“The Vision of John Bunyan” was the topic for my 11th and 12th essay chat back in 2012. For this re-release I combined the shows because together they are just over twenty minutes. D.L. Moody: A Life (Kevin Belmonte)

This is a very different edition of All About Jack. Normally I share material more directly related to C.S. Lewis, but that’s not the case today. Instead I’m sharing an interview I asked Gina Dalfonzo to conduct on my behalf with Kevin Belmonte about his new book called D.L. Moody A Life: Innovator, Evangelist, World Changer. While we know of no direct influence Moody had on Lewis, we do know that Moody advocated what Lewis would later call “Mere Christianity.”

The follow interview features three people I’ve had as a guest previously sharing their thoughts on several questions I asked them related to aspects of Lewis’s works they’ve enjoyed and how his material has impacted their life. These guests are Dr. Joseph Pearce, Dr. Joel Heck and Kevin Belmonte.

Mere Christianity, as many people know, is a collection of three smaller books that were published in the early 1940’s. Before that they were individual broadcasts on the BBC. A person can pick any of them and gain insight from what Lewis shares. However, as I was reading over the two radio talks for this period I got to thinking that if out of all of the material he shared

EC03r – “Period Criticism” with Kevin Belmonte (Essay Chat)

In 2012 I started an occasional series of chats about a single essay by Lewis. The following is the third in that series of “essay chats.” The shorter worker being explored today with Kevin Belmonte is “Period Criticism.” Belmonte is the author of several books, including Defiant Joy: The Remarkable Life & Impact of G.K. …
