What book of the Bible did C. S. Lewis read more than any other?

If you’ve familiar with most of the works of Lewis it will come as no surprise that he enjoyed the book of Psalms in the Bible. It was the one he read most often. If fact, his only work devoted to a Biblical book was on the Psalms. With a title like Reflections on the Psalms, it’s clear the volume is not meant to be an exhaustive study. Those who are use to his reasoned arguments in defense of Christianity could be surprised at the content.

Lewis opens his book with the sentence, “This is not a work of scholarship.” He also notes he writes “as one amateur to another” on this subject, stressing his main purpose is to present his own reflections for others to consider. Thus, his aim is helping a person better enjoy the Psalms.
