The Christian World of The Hobbit Series (Re-post)

Back in late 2012 I released a five-part mini-series about a book that had just come out called The Christian World of the The Hobbit by Dr. Devin Brown. This was before the first of three movies hit the big screen. Now that the final major motion picture is coming out in three months I thought it would be a great time to re-post the entire series. Normally I just post one show a week (even when posting a previously released episodes), but because I’m moving my podcast hosting and I have an upcoming new series I decided to re-release them over a five day period. So far the first two shows are posted.

The Oddest Inkling (Sørina Higgins)

Most who read the works of C.S. Lewis are aware that he spend many hours over the years with a group of friends known as the Inklings. Charles Williams was one of the central participants for a short period of time. He died unexpectedly in 1945 and although Lewis and Williams were friends for less than ten years, the impact of their relationship was very significant for Lewis.

Who was Charles Williams? If you are willing to believe Sørina Higgins, he was “The Oddest Inkling.” Why such a description? She states, “He was a British poet, novelist, literary critic, editor, lecturer, biographer, Anglican Christian, and occult master.

I can’t image that any of you are not aware that this weekend marks the release of The Hobbit movie (part 2). So, it only seemed fitting to review some of the material I’ve previously done related to it. I believe these resources will help you better enjoy the book (and movie).
