Can you tell the difference between a genuine quotation by C.S. Lewis and one falsely attributed to him? Recently on social media there was a video having you guess if a quote was by Taylor Swift or C.S. Lewis. I’m sure it was all meant in fun. Sadly, they got some Lewis quotes wrong (he didn’t write some of them that they are incorrectly credited to him). I did an annotated video very recently to correct their error.
While attending the excellent inaugural Undiscovered C.S. Lewis Conference at George Fox University, I thought it would be fun to “test” some attendees on whether or not they could recognize fake Lewis quotes among the genuine. Each were given an index size card that labeled “C.S. Lewis” and “C.S. CLUELESS” (meaning it wasn’t written by Lewis). As you will see, even those what have read Lewis firsthand had difficulty getting the right answer.
Below is a “raw” edit of the video (I plan to do another version that will have the video cropped and quotes on the video itself).
